Cookie Policy
What are cookies?
Cookies are files with small amounts of data which often include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device.
If you want to learn more about cookies, this site is written very clearly and is very informative: Cookiepedia. It includes a “Cookiepedia,” where you can research cookies. We find it very useful and hope you do as well.
Who do the cookies on our site belong to?
Cookies are either first party cookies, or third party cookies.
First party cookies
First party cookies belong to the domain you see in your browser address bar- in this case it refers to us, Insider’s Madrid. We are not currently hosting any first party cookies.
Third party cookies
Third party cookies are owned by domains other than Insider’s Madrid. Insider’s Madrid has a number of third party cookies on our site. Please scroll to the bottom of this post to view a table that has a complete list of the cookies on our website, who owns them, what they do and how long they last.
In summary, the third party cookies on our site are from these external vendors:
- Google Analytics (and one from Doubleclick, that is owned by Google). These are primarily used to track who visits our website, and ANONYMOUSLY gather data on them.
- TripAdvisor. These are primarily used to display widgets from TripAdvisor showing our Certificates of Excellence. They are also used to display embedded content. If you are a TripAdvisor user and are logged in, they also track your browsing activity.
- Infinity. This is a telecommunications provider that tracks phone calls from our website, so we know which pages are performing the best.
- WordPress. With the exception of the cookie (which comes from a WordPress plugin called GPDR Cookie Consent) that recalls if you have consented to the use of cookies by this site, the WordPress cookies are only deployed if WordPress users are logged into our website
Can I refuse to use cookies?
You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. To learn how to do this, please click here: How to Refuse Cookies
