Gastronomy hands-on: Courses and Tastings

Wine Tastings: Spain’s regions enjoy contrasting climates; the damp and cooler north, the dry plateau of central Spain and the warm humidity of the Mediterranean. Led by our sommelier, our tastings take the wine lover on a virtual journey through Spain from the classic regions of Ribera de Duero and Rioja to the newer wine-making regions of Priorat and Jumilla.

We also offer tours to the wine museums and private bodegas in the North of Spain.

Olive Oil Tastings: There are over 35 varieties of extra virgin olive oil in Spain. Our tasting sessions help you to appreciate the difference; we also arrange visits to an olive farm to learn about the production process.

Cookery days: almond gazpacho, cod-stuffed piquillo peppers, chicken in almond and saffron sauce, Catalonian fideuá with prawns, Valencian paella followed by delicious desserts; from Santiago almond cake to olive oil cake. Lessons are given by a chef, who is also a food writer and a member of the Spanish Academy of Gastronomy; they take place in her luxurious kitchen studio just minutes from the Royal Palace. The class is followed by lunch with appropriate wines.

Market Day Tours: Join our gourmet chef and cookery teacher on a visit to one of the important markets in Madrid where you will see the best of Spanish produce and learn how to ask for it. This is the perfect opportunity to ask your questions about Spanish cooking and to pick up tips on how to prepare your Spanish dishes
